Аннотация:The author investigates the role culture plays in how these teachers use curriculum, choose teaching methodologies, and determine how and what resources are used. The four Metis Teachers share their stories as they struggle to teach in a hegemonic system that values certain practices over others. How does our culture and identity influence what we do as teachers in the classroom? “Metis Teachers: Identity, Culture and the Classroom” focuses on the teaching practices of four Metis Teachers who teach in an urban context, and how their culture and identity influences their teaching practice. This book would be of interest to education students and classroom teachers who work in multi-cultural settings. The author explores how these four Metis teachers provided a culturally- responsive curriculum that is based on their cultural knowledge and awareness of each child’s uniqueness and what they brought into the classroom.
