Аннотация:Literacy and learning practices of children at home and school in rural Zimbabwe reveal some of these reasons. This fresh approach, methodology and debate should be of great interest to university students, teachers college students, researchers, university and college lecturers as well as education policy makers and teachers of English as a second language in Sub- Saharan Africa. Critical and auto-ethnographic methodologies are employed to gain insight into the lives of rural communities in order to identify the underlying causes of poor educational achievement. In recent years research has tried to address factors that influence the African child's educational achievement. This book is a thick layer to the existing debate. Application of a number of theoretical perspectives expose underlying negative coercive relations of power in the community, the need for greater appreciation of the embeddedness of larger social practices in pedagogic enterprise and the fact that issues of language, education and culture tend to conceal relations of domination and subordination in the schooling system.

Значение слухопроизносительных навыков для речевой деятельности в ее основных разновидностях вне сомнений. Нарушение фонематической правильности речи (подразумевается смыслоразличительная функция фонем), ее неверное интонационное оформление говорящим ведет к недоразумениям и непониманию со стороны слушающего. К изменению смысла ведет и неправильное членение фразы. Так, от расстановки пауз меняется смысл следующих предложений: A , George a d om go o school. A ! George a d om go o school. В первом случае сказано, что в школу идут трое детей. Во втором – говорящий обращается к девочке и сообщает ей, что в школу идут два мальчика. На мой взгляд, эти примеры, хотя их список можно было бы продолжить, наглядно иллюстрируют роль фонетики при говорении. Следует отметить, однако, что слабое развитие слухопроизносительных навыков не только влияет на выдачу информации говорящим, но и затрудняет понимание чужой речи, соответствующей произносительной норме. В этом случае между оратором и рецептором нет необходимой тождественности в элементах сообщения. Услышанные звуки не ассоциируются со звуковой базой самих учащихся и не имеют поэтому никакого сигнального значения для них.
